Angelicpedia / The reference library

About Angelicpedia.

Angelicpedia is an independent reference site about angel names, angelology and the stories associated with angels. Its pages bring together material from religious texts, later theological and mystical writing, folklore and ceremonial-magic literature.

Our scope

These sources do not describe a single, uniform system. A figure recognized in one community may be absent from another community’s scripture or teaching. We aim to identify the tradition being discussed and distinguish a text’s wording from later interpretation.

Sources and revisions

Our sources guide introduces primary texts used in the reference pages. Updated articles link to specific passages where possible. Older catalogue entries retain some traditional descriptions while their individual sources are reviewed; a short entry should be a starting point for research, rather than a substitute for the original text.

We correct unsupported identifications, make name variants explicit, and update publication dates when material is substantively revised. Attributed essays represent their authors’ interpretations and are identified separately from reference material.
