Cochabiel.

Cochabiel is an angelic name catalogued in Gustav Davidson’s 1967 A Dictionary of Angels.

Davidson’s dictionary entry

In his dictionary (printed page 88), Davidson lists Cochabiel (with the variant Coahabiath) and describes him as an angel associated with the planet Mercury in cabalistic lore. Davidson further describes him as one of seven planetary princes, attributing this designation to Heinrich Cornelius Agrippa, while also noting François Lenormant’s nineteenth-century study of Chaldean magic.

Source comparison and related traditions

Davidson’s attribution represents a secondary dictionary report rather than a direct transcription from primary Renaissance texts. In Agrippa’s Three Books of Occult Philosophy (Book III, chapter 24), the planetary hierarchy assigns Michael—or in alternate tables Raphael—to Mercury; the specific name Cochabiel does not appear in that chapter. The star-associated Watcher Kokabiel belongs to the narrative of 1 Enoch. The resemblance between the names does not by itself establish that this Mercury entry refers to the same figure.
