Orifiel is the first angel or spirit of Saturn described in Johannes Trithemius’s De Septem Secundeis.
In the chronology presented by the treatise, Orifiel begins governing the world on March 15 of its first year. The period lasts 354 years and four months. Trithemius describes Orifiel as a name belonging to the spirit’s office rather than its nature.
These details belong to the work’s scheme of successive planetary governors. Joseph H. Peterson’s digital edition presents a Latin text based on the 1545 edition alongside William Lilly’s 1647 English translation.
