Malpas.

Malpas is a spelling reported in Joseph H. Peterson’s comparison of Goetic spirit names. Row 39 gives Malpas in the Waite and Shah columns, alongside Malphas in the Sloane 3825 column. This connection comes from Peterson’s editorial comparison.

The president in Goetia 39

Peterson’s transcription of the Goetia, entry 39, describes Malphas as a powerful president commanding forty legions. The text first gives him the form of a crow, with an editorial note correcting the bird to a raven. He later takes human shape and speaks with a hoarse voice.

The grimoire attributes the building of houses and high towers, the gathering of artificers, knowledge of enemies’ plans and the giving of familiars to this spirit. It also says that he accepts a sacrifice while deceiving the giver. These are descriptions within the grimoire’s account.
