Modern AI-generated editorial interpretation of Adnachiel.

Adnachiel is the name aligned with Sagittarius in Agrippa’s Three Books of Occult Philosophy, II.14. A second list in III.24 prints Advachiel for the ruler of that sign. These passages establish a specific place in Agrippa’s zodiacal correspondences.

Sagittarius in the scale of twelve

Book II.14 arranges angels, signs, months and other groups in a table organized around the number twelve. Adnachiel occupies the column containing Sagittarius and November. The same table includes Ambriel with Gemini and May, and other names with the remaining signs.

The month row belongs to this symbolic table. It should not be mistaken for a claim that the astronomical or astrological sign of Sagittarius occupies every day of the civil month of November.

Adnachiel and Advachiel

In III.24, Agrippa explicitly lists Advachiel over Sagittarius. The matching office provides a clear comparison with Adnachiel in II.14. The difference in spelling is visible; a specific story about how a printer or copyist produced it requires further evidence.

These are zodiacal assignments within a Renaissance occult system. Agrippa also discusses planetary rulers, including the figures treated here under Zaphkiel and Camael. A sign ruler and a planetary ruler have different places in those catalogues. The Adnachiel passages supply neither an individual biography nor the modern personality traits sometimes attached to the sign.
