Ayil.

Ayil is a name assigned to Sagittarius in Gustav Davidson’s A Dictionary of Angels (1967). The brief entry is a modern reference report, rather than a narrative about an angel’s deeds.

Ayil in Davidson’s dictionary

On printed page 63, Davidson identifies Ayil as an angel of Sagittarius, then names Sizajasel in the context of ceremonial magic. He cites Joshua Trachtenberg’s Jewish Magic and Superstition, page 251.

The direct witness used here is Davidson’s entry. Its citation to Trachtenberg does not by itself establish the wording, date or manuscript origin of the underlying name list.

Different lists of zodiacal angels

Agrippa’s scale of twelve assigns Sagittarius to Adnachiel. That separate correspondence should not be silently substituted for Ayil or treated as proof that the two names describe the same being.
