Daniel (Danel).

Danel, called Daniel in Angelicpedia’s older profile, is a named Watcher leader in 1 Enoch. This entry concerns that angelic figure, not the human prophet in the biblical Book of Daniel.

Danel in the Watcher list

In 1 Enoch 6:7, R. H. Charles’s translation prints Dânêl among the leaders of the company that descends on Mount Hermon. The surrounding account describes their shared oath and desire to take human wives.

The passage supplies a name and a place in the group’s leadership. It does not give Danel a separate extended biography or, in that chapter, a specific teaching about the sun.

Who teaches the signs of the sun?

1 Enoch 8:3 assigns teachings to several figures. In Charles’s version, the solar signs are associated with Shamsiel. That detail should not be transferred to Danel without evidence from another identified text or edition.

Danel and the biblical Daniel

In Daniel 8:15–17, Daniel is the human recipient of a vision and Gabriel is told to explain it to him. This is a different narrative role from membership in the Watcher list.

Related name forms can occur for human beings and angels in different works. They do not make the prophet Daniel a fallen angel or prove that all figures with similar names are the same person.
