Hamaliel.

In Renaissance occult philosophy, Hamaliel is documented as an angelic intelligence assigned to the zodiacal sign of Virgo. In Heinrich Cornelius Agrippa’s Three Books of Occult Philosophy (Book II, chapter 14), the “Scale of the Number Twelve” aligns Hamaliel in its sixth column with the sign of Virgo, the month of August, and the celestial hierarchy of the Virtues (Vertues). In Book III, chapter 24, Agrippa reaffirms this governance among the spirits set over the twelve zodiacal signs, explicitly pairing Virgo with Hamaliel.

In A Dictionary of Angels (printed page 134), Gustav Davidson summarizes Hamaliel as one of the rulers of the order of virtues, governor of Virgo, and angel of August, citing Trithemius. Agrippa’s Book III list places Verchiel over Leo and Zuriel over Libra on either side of the Virgo–Hamaliel pairing. These assignments belong to the particular zodiacal scheme presented there.
